Note: my new personal homepage can be found here.

I am interested in all aspects of continuous and discrete mathematical optimization, in class-level object recognition and in machine learning methods for structured data, such as graphs.

In May 2006 I obtained my computer science diploma from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Prior to that, in June 2005 I obtained a Master of Engineering from the Shanghai Jiaotong University. I plan to graduate in October 2009.

Together with Suvrit Sra, SVN Vishwanathan, and Stephen Wright, I organize the NIPS 2009 workshop Optimization for Machine Learning, a follow-up on our previous workshop OPT 2008.
